FAQS
+ How does Venus Viva MD compare with other technologies?
Nano-Fractional Radiofrequency technology shares a similar mode of action and can achieve similar results as seen with the traditional ablative lasers, particularly with CO2 lasers. However, unlike ablative lasers, Nano-Fractional Radiofrequency technology is significantly less painful, with less recovery time, is much safer on all skin types and has lower risk of hyper/hypopigmentation.
+ How does the procedure work?
The Venus Viva MD applicator delivers NanoFractional Radiofrequency through the skin in tiny columns, causing ablation and coagulation. This promotes fibroblast stimulation and collagen remodelling with improvement in scarring, and healthier smoother and tighter skin.
+ What needs to be done pre-treatment?
One week prior to treatment, please discontinue exfoliatives such as retinoids, AHA’s and scrubs.
+ What will the patient experience during the procedure?
A local anesthetic cream will be applied prior to the procedure for 30 - 45 minutes. Other forms of analgesia may also be used prior to and during the procedure to minimize discomfort. The energy settings are customized and treatment is designed specifically to the patient’s skin type and medical condition being treated. Treatment may be combined with growth factors, PRP/Factor 4.
+ What can the patient expect after the procedure?
Immediately following the procedure it is normal to experience a feeling of sunburn on the skin, redness, heat and some swelling may occur for 1-3 days. Skin dryness and flaking or “sandpaper“ feel may occur for the following few days depending on the type of treatment performed.
+ What are the possible side effects?
Following the procedure they may be swelling, redness, and heat. Scarring and pigmentation changes are possible, but unlikely. Cold sore or other infections may occur. Notify clinic of any concerns such as blistering, excessive redness or swelling etc.
+ What is the post treatment care?
- Avoid sun exposure and use broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- Please use post procedure skincare as advised.
- Do not pick treated areas.
- Ice or cooling compresses may be used.
- Swimming, hot tub, spas and saunas, activities causing heavy sweating and friction should be avoided until the skin heals.
- Avoid skin irritants (Retinol, Tretinoin, AHA/BHA, astringents, benzoyl peroxide etc) until skin has healed.
- Makeup may be applied after the first day.
+ How many treatments will I need?
Venus concept recommends 3 to 6 treatments, four weeks apart for optimal results. Some patients may achieve the desired outcome with fewer treatments.
+ When will I see results ?
Results can be seen after the first treatment, however best results are achieved following multiple treatments (3-6).
