The procedure can take between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the area being treated and the number and types of threads being used.

+ When can I resume work and normal activities?

Most patients can we resume work the same day after the procedure. For patients who have multiple threads or combination treatment areas, a little longer downtime may be needed.

+ What are the possible side-effects?

Possible side-effects include some local discomfort or light pain, this can be treated with oral analgesia. Sometimes local bruising may be evident. Cold compresses may be used post procedure. Please consult the clinic if there is excessive pain, redness, bruising, or discomfort.

+ Can Aptos Thread Lift be combined with other cosmetic procedures?

Aptos thread lift may be combined with other treatments for synergistic and best results ( eg antiwrinkle injection, dermal fillers, Ultraformer, Fotona laser, Fractionated Radiofrequency etc).

+ How does Aptos threads differ from other threads?

+ What can I expect during the procedure?

PDO Thread Lift is an office based procedure. Following local anaesthetic administration to the skin, the threads are then placed in the skin using a disposable cannula. Treatment time varies depending on the condition being treated but generally is between 30 to 60 minutes after which you will be able to resume your everyday activities.

+ What needs to be done before the procedure?

Before procedure:

  • Try to avoid or reduce caffeine and nicotine
  • Avoid vitamin E, fish oil, green tea for 10 days before, and after the operation.
  • Do not take anti-inflammatories for 2 to 3 weeks before and after the procedure.
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours before and after the procedure.
  • Do not apply make up or moisturiser on the day of surgery.
  • Wash your hair the day of surgery.
  • If you are on anticoagulation or blood platelet anti-aggregation drugs, please advise the clinic.
  • If you suffer from cold sores, please discuss this with the clinic. It is recommended to take anti-viral therapy for at least 48 hours before the procedure and continue with anti-viral therapy for three days after the procedure.
  • Smokers tend to heal a little slower than non-smokers.

+ What is the aftercare?

  • Cold compresses can be applied gently on the areas treated for the first 24 to 48 hours.
  • Sleep in elevated position for 1 to 3 days. Do not sleep with pressure on your face.
  • Antibiotic therapy is necessary post surgery. Your doctor will prescribe an appropriate antibiotic.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, but avoid very hot drinks.
  • Avoid excessive speaking and laughing immediately after the procedure.
  • Soft diet and small mouthfuls is recommended for 3 to 7 days. No hard foods eg steak.
  • No smoking if possible.
